Oliver Petrie is a self-taught documentary photographer and filmmaker based between Paris, the Basque Country and Cape Town, South Africa. He is a member of the Studio Hans Lucas since 2019.

 

Having spent most of his life as a foreigner in various parts of the world, migration and the notion of alterity are close to his heart.

 

Fascinated by the intricacies of our societies, he puts humans at the centre of his work.

 

Believing in the role images can play in shaping the future generations he started Ekse Lens, a photography and videography school based in Khayelitsha, South Africa's second largest township in 2018.

 

He is also the cofounder of Momentum Production, a full service film and photography production company.
